BME/CAGT Junior Tenure-Track Faculty

Position Description
The Duke University Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Pratt School of Engineering and the Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies are seeking applicants for an open tenure-track faculty position. Applications are welcome from investigators at all career stages but early career researchers including those pursuing their first independent position are particularly encouraged to apply. We are seeking collaborative and cross-disciplinary scientists and engineers doing innovative work in all areas of molecular and cellular technology development and its application to the diagnosis, treatment, and/or fundamental understanding of human disease. Particular research areas of interest include the development and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to better model, interpret, predict, and design biomolecular and cellular structure and function. We are especially interested in work that bridges computational and experimental approaches as well as research areas with translational potential. Additional areas of interest include, but are not limited to: genome engineering, functional genomics/epigenomics including high-throughput genetic screening and/or epigenomic profiling and annotation, methods to study genome structure, genome and nucleic acid imaging, cell reprogramming, precision medicine, and gene and cell therapies including new delivery methods. Applicants are expected to complement other collaborating researchers with interests in basic and applied research in the areas of regenerative biology and medicine, cancer biology, pharmacology, immunology, neurobiology, and cell biology.

The Duke Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies (https://cagt.pratt.duke.edu ), an initiative established by the Pratt School of Engineering and School of Medicine in 2019, is a robust and dynamic center that builds upon Duke’s strengths in these areas of research as well as collaborations throughout the Schools of Engineering, Arts and Sciences, and Medicine. The CAGT is housed in the vibrant research community of the Fitzpatrick Center for Interdisciplinary Engineering, Medicine, and Applied Sciences and supports research and educational programs of scientists and clinicians across campus. The CAGT will partner with the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and other Duke departments appropriate to the research program of selected applicants for this position.

Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, Genetics/Genomics, or a related field.
