Job Summary
The Blavatnik Fellowship in Life Science Entrepreneurship is designed to foster entrepreneurship in the life sciences and to enhance the commercialization of breakthrough biomedical innovation originating from research laboratories throughout Harvard University.Harvard Business School sees itself as a catalytic force in promoting successful commercialization of the University's technologies. The Blavatnik Fellowship will be a founding pillar of this initiative.
Position Description
This unique program will provide a select group of HBS, MBA alumni the opportunity to work with Harvard inventors to promote the commercialization of important life science-oriented technologies which have the potential to create significant commercial value. The program draws upon Harvard's world class research enterprise and will partner with the University's Blavatnik Biomedical Accelerator fund, which is responsible for advancing Harvard's inventions.Blavatnik Fellows will focus on technologies originating from Harvard University's research laboratories. They will have the opportunity to review and select projects from the broad portfolio of Harvard University-sponsored innovations including projects that have already secured funding from the Blavatnik Biomedical Accelerator.
The Fellows will be mentored by a community of business and science leaders in the Boston biopharma and health technology communities and Harvard's i-lab will be the hub of the fellowship where students will be provided with space and the opportunity to join the community. Formal and informal components of the program will provide education and interaction in areas including strategy, R & D management, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, business development and entrepreneurial financing.
Fellows are encouraged to complete business plans and secure funding and, where appropriate, to join and develop founding teams of new ventures.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Fellowships will be awarded to 3-7 exceptional individuals each year.
- Qualified applicants must be HBS MBA graduates, reaching back to seven years prior to the application date (i.e. up to 7 years after receiving an MBA from HBS), with a strong interest in pursuing careers in biomedical leadership and/or entrepreneurship.
Additional Information
This position is approved for a 1-year term (with possibility of renewal/extension) which begins on the person's first day of employment.We may conduct candidate interviews virtually (phone and/or via Zoom) and/or in-person for this role.
