Department Description

The UC Davis Genome Center in the College of Biological Sciences coordinates interdisciplinary research in the areas of genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and bioinformatics, and is involved in the training of undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Genome Center faculty maintain appointments in various departments within the Colleges of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Engineering, the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, the School of Medicine and the School of Veterinary Medicine.



Job Summary

Under supervision of the Assistant Director, Administration, serve as a Genome Center department purchaser and Core billing processor.

Responsible for procurement of scientific equipment, computers, laboratory, and office supplies. Process accounts payable in coordination with the Campus SSC (APIS). Reconcile orders and packing slips, and associated filing of documents.

Process billing, accounts receivable, and collections for the six Genome Center research service Core Facilities. Provide customer service to Core customers, both on- and off-campus.

Assist in processing travel and entertainment reimbursements, and with miscellaneous administrative duties, including light human resources work.

THIS POSITION IS EXPECTED TO BE PRIMARILY ONSITE IN THE UC DAVIS GENOME AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES FACILITY BUILDING.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Experience in operating computers and associated peripherals and MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

·       Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and to research, secure, and/or provide information to clarify situations and/or resolve problems.

·       Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use independent judgment to make logical decisions.

·       Knowledge to interpret and comprehend Genome Center, CBS and campus policies and procedures.

·       Skills to perform mathematical calculations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

·       Experience with purchasing, accounts payable and Aggie Travel.

·       Experience using automated billing software.

·       Experience arranging travel and processing travel/entertainment reimbursements.

·       Experience formulating and executing new policies and procedures that streamline processes and improve compliance.
