Department Description

UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the lifelong learning arm of the university. The division maintains the most diverse portfolio on the campus, with programs spanning pre-college, professional continuing education, workforce development, international academic and cultural exchange, and training services for corporate and agency partners. As a global leader in continuing education, CPE serves learners regionally, nationally and globally, and posts more than 55K enrollments annually making it the third largest UC Extension by enrollment. Beyond its community-facing role, CPE serves as the internal hub for online education in support of other academic units on the campus. CPE employs approximately 180 employees and draws on the expertise of approximately 1,700 instructors.



Job Summary

Under supervision of a program supervisor, support the visual design and formatting of course materials and the promotion and delivery of standardized and customized trainings for the Northern Academy, including courses, conferences and other learning opportunities for human services employees. Assist with formatting and finalization of course materials by improving visual content of PowerPoint documents and supporting development of trainer and trainee guides. Review, update and revise PowerPoint documents and other training materials for design, images, formatting, errors and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility. Develop and manage social media content calendar and postings on LinkedIn, Facebook and other platforms. Schedule and draft posts, select images and use Canva to design graphics, and research relevant content sources to identify and share information of value to audiences. Provide support for minor video editing projects using Adobe Premier Pro; maintain YouTube video catalog. Provide backup support for proctoring of virtual courses, utilizing a high level of technical skill in Zoom. Recommend appropriate technologies for projects. Provide on-site support for conferences and special events. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift course materials and A/V equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Valid CA driver’s license required. 
  • Work overtime during peak periods. 
  • Must be available for overnight travel and to work variable hours if necessary. 
  • Must be able to drive to various locations throughout California.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Experience using multiple software programs including the most current version of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Canva, including advanced features of these programs, to complete visually appealing slide deck presentations and to produce course materials such as trainer guides and handouts, and other printed materials, such as flyers, using specific standards. Knowledge of ADA accessibility remediation requirements for PowerPoint, Word and PDF documents.
  • Experience planning and posting content to social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and others in a professional setting. Knowledge of best practices in social media scheduling, outreach and promotion. 
  • Experience editing videos using Adobe Premiere Pro. 
  • Experience using Zoom and/or other online meeting applications at an advanced level to support online meetings, trainings or other events.
  • Experience working independently, exercising independent judgment, organizing and prioritizing own work, setting and meeting goals and performing multiple unrelated tasks and projects.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Proofreading skills to use proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and diction to review and update curricula for accuracy, formatting consistency and professional presentation.
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written skills to communicate in person, by e-mail and on the phone within a collaborative team environment with people from diverse backgrounds, including unit and divisional staff, instructors and external agencies, using tact and diplomacy in interactions.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

  • Experience updating, modifying and using a database and business tracking system, such as Airtable.
  • Experience in taking direction from multiple leads on multiple simultaneous projects, working with frequent interruptions, working under tight deadlines of multiple tasks, and completing large volumes of work.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Knowledge of the role of human services agencies.
