Biostatistics Analyst

Medicine | School Biomed Sci - Center for Biostatistics

Biostatistics Analyst functions as a biostatistician in supports of biomedical research projects across the health sciences as a member of the Center for Biostatistics in the Department of Biomedical Informatics; assists with overseeing biomedical databases for assigned research projects; consults with study investigators and researchers to determine study requirements to develop analysis and data interpretation methodologies; works closely higher level biostatisticians to create datasets for analysis using statistical programming and analysis standards; conducts and interprets analyses of research data using descriptive statistics and basic inferential tests; reviews data to ensure consistent, accurate and valid conclusions; identifies data discrepancies and works with data managers to develop resolution; prepares interim and final results, including tables and figures, and provides principal investigators written description of methods and statistical analyses used in analysis; assists with preparation of journal articles, technical reports and other materials for publication and presentation; attends project meetings.  


Additional Information:

Minimum Education Required


Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in biostatistics, statistics or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Additional Education Desired

Master’s degree preferred. Additional coursework in epidemiology, public health, biology or medicine desired.

Required Qualifications

2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of standard statistical analysis methodologies with knowledge of at least one statistical programming language such as SAS, STATA or R required. 1-3 years of experience in a statistician capacity required; experience as a biostatistician is preferred; experience in managing large data-sets and utilizing statistical software packages desired; Requires successful completion of a background check; Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
