We are looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant Professor with strong basic science research with emphasis in the field of stem cell research to discover novel epigenetic mechanisms in regulating normal and ischemic cardiac and oral disease tissues. The Department of Bioscience Research is focused on elucidating the mechanisms and evaluation of epigenetic reprogramming of induced pluripotent stem cells. The candidate should be self-motivated with a proven track record of productivity and strong interest in cardiac disease, epigenetics, and stem cell research. They should be able to demonstrate excellence in planning, executing, and analyzing experiments. Meet routinely with the principal investigator (PI) to update the project status. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Involve in training of students and fellows. 
  • Design and perform experiments in epigenetic research in stem cell research related to oral or cardiac cells/tissues and other basic science research related experimental procedures.
  • Design and conduct gene targeting experiments in cells/tissues and other cell culture experiments.
  • Perform in vivo animal model research.
  • Perform experiments in the field of epigenetic regulations of cardiac development and other bioscience related research.
  • Study the role of autophagy in disease pathogenesis.
  • Conduct experiments to study the environment-host interactions, epigenetic disease markers, and ischemia reperfusion injury as well as other related bioscience research.
  •   Develops new ideas that promote current research.
  • Involve in data analysis and scientific presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate changes in technology and standards.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication.
  • Candidate is responsible for teaching techniques to research trainees and students, and develop course related educational material for the department and educational mission.
  • Assist associated Co Investigators in publishing scientific manuscripts generates data for new projects and grants and develops data for submitting own grant as PI.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • PhD degree in science plus three or more years of relevant experience in epigenetic and stem cell research.
  • One or more years of experience in Identifying gene expressions by RT-PCR, Western blot analysis and immunostaining. Advantages will be given for experience in molecular cloning and gene sequencing.
