Description

The Biomedical Informatics Program of the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute is advancing the state of the art in health data science using information from electronic medical records and other databases. In this role, you will join a team of physicians, epidemiologists and study staff to work on a wide range of projects related to health and healthcare. You will have the technical acumen for planning, designing, developing, implementing and administering data-based systems that acquire, prepare, store and provide access to data and metadata. You will also maintain and optimize systems and migrate data and systems as needed. As our Researcher, you will apply computational, computer science, data science and cyber infrastructure (CI) research and development principles, with relevant domain science knowledge, to perform highly complex research and technology integration and development. Your responsibilities include research, design, development, analysis, operation, and support of high performance computing (HPC) and data science research, software, tools and hardware resources. You will develop data algorithms and perform computations, statistical analyses, interpretation, and reporting of research. The primary responsibility is to use computational and data science technology as a tool to accomplish research objectives. You will work closely and collaboratively with research teams and collaborators to ensure that the correct reporting and analysis tools are used. You will meet with stakeholders to understand business needs for reporting and research requests and gather requirements, document, clarify, interpret specifications, and review for completeness and accuracy. You will also design, develop, validate, and perform thorough functional testing of analytical assets utilizing reporting tools and data sources including but not limited to: CDW/Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, Registry Framework and Data Marts, Slicer/Dicer, and other Business Intelligence Tools. They will design, develop, and execute analytic plans using statistical software such as SAS, R, Python, or Stata. Salary Range: $105,200 to $250,600 Annually



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

* At least 6-10 years of relevant work experience * Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related area * Expertise in relational database design, implementation and maintenance * Expertise writing queries and procedures with SQL and PL/SQL * Experience with multiple database management systems * Experience with business intelligence tools * Experience in statistical computing/programming for large collaborative health-related research projects * Experience in statistical programming languages such as SAS, R, Python, etc. * Working knowledge of clinical data standards * Experience working in a healthcare related organization or as a medical researcher * Experience working in a scientific research setting * Expertise with ETL tools, data mapping and validation * Experience with Agile or alternative development methodologies * Full software lifecycle development experience using a variety of programming environments * Experience with server-side web application development * Experience with client-side web programming, using HTML, CSS and Javascript * Experience with Python scripting language and related libraries: Numpy, Pandas, etc * Experience with Linux (Ubuntu) command line and related skills: Shell scripting, CRON, etc * Experience with Epic database. Epic Clarity Model Certification (preferred but not required) or the ability to achieve * Epic Clarity Model Certification within 6 months of onboarding. * Experience writing statistical analysis plans for research grant proposals and manuscripts * Experience with Natural Language Processing development
