Responsibilities*

Manage Biomarker Laboratory Research Projects:

  • Coordinate daily operation of the Biomarker Wet Labs work-load planning for the broader team and regularly report updates on project status & progress, alongside Senior Research Scientist.
  • Communicate with internal & external collaborators regarding global research studies - scheduling & attending meetings, recording meeting minutes, and reporting out to the Senior Research Scientist.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments and inventory of materials, analyze data for publication, and participate in manuscript preparation.

Independence in Research:

  • Carry out individual bench research with a high degree of short-term and intermediate-term independence.
  • Adapt methodologies to specific experiment requirements based on results, develop new techniques based on independent literature search and analysis.
  • Conduct independent analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data generated.

Collaborative Research Planning and Documentation:

  • Work closely with the Senior Scientist and Research Lab Specialist Assoc for intermediate and long-term research project planning.
  • Assist in writing specific sections of manuscripts and grants as appropriate.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis and interpretation to guide research methodology.
  • Coordinate comprehensive data collection and screening processes.

Laboratory Management and Compliance:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Organoid Laboratory Manager.
  • Lead the team in performing sample tracking and QC/QA procedures.
  • Ensure the management and maintenance of regulatory, financial, and logistic aspects of laboratory functioning.
  • Ensure compliance with OSEH, IACUC, IRB, Radiation Safety regulations.
  • Oversee regent ordering, lab maintenance, and overall smooth functioning of the laboratory.

Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree is required. 5-6 years of experience in a related field.
  • Research leadership is a plus.
  • Capability to independently organize, prioritize, and distribute individual and teamwork.
  • Resourcefulness to independently devise and execute short to mid-term modifications to experimental plans, along with capacity to utilize scientific literature independently to achieve short to intermediate research project objectives.
  • Meticulous organizational skills to facilitate the management of several, concurrent projects.
  • Solid understanding of foundational bench molecular and cellular biology methodologies

Desired Qualifications*
  • Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related field preferred.  
  • Bioengineering experience, especially as it relates to with 3D cell culture systems, advanced cell microscopy techniques including confocal microscopy and digital analysis desirable. 
  • Experience in project management & the operation of a large, specialized laboratory.
  • Experience with molecular analysis of renal disease (IHC, IF, molecular cloning, cell culture)
  • Experience in statistical analysis 
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, Asana (or another project management program)
  • Experience in molecular assays such as ELISA, IHC, Western Blot, PCR, qPCR, & cell culture
  • Experience handling material from human subjects

Additional Information

This is a full-time onsite position with weekends sometimes required for certain experiments.  


Background Screening
