Job Summary

The Biology Lab Coordinator role is a full-time, academic year, renewable appointment beginning in August 2021. Our teaching needs are at the first year and sophomore levels and include:  Biology 11000-11100, introductory courses for non-majors; BIOL 22100, introductory microbiology lab for non-majors; and BIOL 24200 and 24200, sophomore labs for majors in cell biology, genetics and molecular biology.   Each of the courses has been taught routinely, previously used materials will be provided.  The coordinator maintains open lines of communication between themselves and essential staff, as well as with course faculty. Successful candidates will become part of a community committed to outstanding interdisciplinary undergraduate life science education. The Department and College of Science have a vibrant group of scholars engaged in STEM and discipline-based education research.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field 
  • Two years of experience teaching and coordinating  laboratory courses; working with Teaching assistants; designing lab course experiments at the university level 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Laboratory skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff and faculty
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs.


Preferred:

  • Master degree in biology or related field
