Description

This is a managerial position for the statewide Waterfowl Program with supervision from the Biologist Director. This position serves as a high-level advisor concerning waterfowl and wetland management for LDWF and other state, federal, local governments and non-governmental organizations (NGO's). This position directly supervises two Biologist DCL-A positions with responsibilities for managing migratory waterfowl and other wetland dependent birds and their habitats. This position reports budgetary needs and purchasing activities directly to the division Biologist Director. Additionally this position proposes and directs research funding, collaborates with universities and NGOs, directs and performs aerial waterfowl surveys, represents Louisiana on the Mississippi Flyway Technical Section, and makes recommendations for annual waterfowl hunting seasons within the federal framework allowances. These duties include public presentations at public hearings and to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management, animal science, forestry, natural resources, or conservation followed by seven years of professional experience in wildlife or fisheries research, management, education or conservation; forestry; or in environmental science.
