This recruitment will be used to fill full-time Seasonal (May-September), Biological Sciences Research Technician 1 positions for the Human and Ecosystem Resilience and Sustainability Lab, at Oregon State University-Cascades. These positions will be located in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho.
This position is expected to work a maximum of 40 hours per week for OSU-Cascades campus located in Bend, Oregon for the Northwestern Bat Hub to assist with summertime bat acoustic survey monitoring across the Pacific Northwest, in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho. This is a Seasonal appointment expected to last 4 months from approximately Late May to early September.
Technicians will be hired as a student employee, BSRT1, or BSRT2, depending on experience.
Crew leads will be hired as either a BSRT2 or BSRT3, depending on experience.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Requirements :


This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Type:

  • Applicants must be FLEXIBLE in when and where they will be working given changing field conditions and project needs.
  • Fieldwork often occurs in difficult weather conditions (e.g. hot), sometimes involving tough hikes with heavy packs containing recording equipment and deployment gear.
  • Long drives will be required between field sites.
  • Lodging will often be in remote backcountry campsites.
