•The duties may include, but are not limited to: •Provides data management and logistical support to field wildlife disease biologists. •Responsible for sample shipping, receiving, and archiving as well as assisting with various surveillance activities in the field. •Uses computers to communicate, access, input and manipulate data. •Contributes to overall planning of studies by conducting literature reviews and makes suggestions to improve research methods. •Develops, maintains, and updates a sample tracking system. •Collects specimens from various wildlife and laboratory animals for surveillance and research projects.
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained inthe private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Experience in wildlife disease projects. Experience collecting and reviewing detail-oriented scientific data, as part of wildlife studies, which may include captive animal and fieldwork. Experience with at least two of the following: collecting/shipping biological samples, maintaining/organizing data, and writing scientific reports, as part of a wildlife or disease project. OR 1 full year of graduate level education with an emphasis on wildlife Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
