Description

You will work as a crew member for the Tanada Creek Salmon Weir project, based at Slana, Alaska. Duties will include: installation, operation, maintenance, and removal of a floating picket fish weir, photovoltaic power system, and video equipment (underwater camera and recording system); enumerating sockeye and Chinook salmon passage and accurately recording data from the review of video recording; ensuring that the data is entered into an electronic spreadsheet on a daily basis; helping instruct new crew members about all aspects of work at the weir including safety issues; communicate work-related needs and problems that arise to supervisor in a timely manner; and provide information about the weir and weir data to visitors and guests. Record biological data of wildlife, birds and fish and enter it on a spreadsheet, monitoring bank erosion and inspecting for invasive plants, measuring water levels and temperatures though out the season. Start date is approximate. Employment period is anticipated to run through late-September. Park housing may be available for a modest fee.
