Position Summary | The Hoadley and Raab Labs are seeking a bioinformatics scientist to provide data analysis for the characterization of human cancers. Our teams are involved in several collaborative team projects including the TCGA’s Genome Data Analysis Network. The Raab Lab (raab-lab.org) uses functional genomics tools to understand gene regulation and how disruption of proper gene regulation contributes to cancer and other diseases. Research in the lab includes analysis of RNA and DNA sequencing for cancer subtyping, pathway analysis, mutational signatures, and mutation and copy number analyses including integrated analyses of different data types. Projects will cover a range of tumor types and while expertise in a particular tumor type is not required; a general understanding of cancer is expected. The position will involve working in a collaborative environment and requires strong scientific communication skills. Projects will involve integrating data from multiple genomics assays, such as ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and RNA-seq. The candidate will also assist with project management and quality control of data. |
Educational Requirements | A PhD or MS in bioinformatics, genetics, computer science, genetics, statistics, computational biology, or related field is required. |
Qualifications and Experience | The candidate must have proficiency in R, Python or Perl, knowledge of molecular biology and genomics, prior experience with next-generation sequencing, and have a passion for collaborative and interdisciplinary research. Candidate should be highly motivated and able to work independently and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with analysis of data from techniques such as, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and RNA-seq is required. Experience with working in a high-performance computing environment is preferred. |
