Bioinformatics Analyst

Updated: over 1 year ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

An open position in the Lowance Center for Human Immunology at Emory University. The
candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team of immunologists, biologists, and bioinformaticians.

The Project: The candidate will lead and contribute to exciting new projects on human
immunology recently funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the Ghosn Lab
(www.ghosnlab.science). The candidate will help develop and apply computational tools to
integrate and analyze multi-omics single-cell datasets and Hi-D flow cytometry using machine
learning and other computational and statistical approaches. All the multi-omics datasets are
generated in house in the Ghosn Lab and include samples from model organisms (humanized
mice, and transgenic mice for in vivo lineage tracing) and human samples from healthy and
diseased donors. Experience in integrating and analyzing scRNA-seq data is an advantage. Data
analysis include a suite of pipelines developed in the lab and others publicly available (R and
Python algorithms). The candidate will also leverage our newly developed pipeline named
SuPERR-seq. SuPERR-seq simultaneously measures and integrates total gene expression, B-cell
and T-cell receptor (BCR/TCR) repertoire, cell-surface proteins, and CRISPR-derived cell barcodes
for in vivo lineage tracing models. The project is focused on human developmental immunology.
More details about the specific scientific questions will be provided during the interview process.

Previous studies in the Ghosn Lab: See our recent study applying multi-omics single-cell assays
in the lungs and matching blood of severe COVID-19 patients in ICU:

Working conditions: We value creative thinkers and outside-the-box problem solvers. You will
join a vibrant team of researchers at various ages, career levels, interests and research
background. The laboratory is new and located in an open-space concept in the second floor of
a sunlight-drenched research building at Emory (HSRB building). Work schedule is flexible,
including working from home options. Salary is commensurate with experience. We are affiliated
to the Emory Vaccine Center/Yerkes Primate Center, Bioinformatics Program at Georgia Tech,
Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital, and more.

Please send a CV and a brief statement of why you are interested in our work to
[email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!
