Bioinformatician-Senior (Ob-Gyn)

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs advanced bioinformatics analysis and software support for genomics research and projects.

Job Duties:

1.     Develops, tests, and maintains modular software pipelines to provide bioinformatics data analysis, preliminary interpretation of the data, and reports of the results.

2.     Manages genome sequencing data; including loading and querying data from database sequencing systems, transforming the data to the necessary formats, and moving data to storage.

3.     Identifies, evaluates, and incorporates relevant algorithms and software pipelines by reviewing pertinent literature in bioinformatics and computational biology.

4.     Manages the sequencing facility web-based page and collaborates with research analysts for downstream data analysis.

5.     Performs downstream statistical analysis.

6.     Trains new analysts and/or students in the Division of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and serves as a senior technical resource for the unit.

7.     Performs all other duties as assigned.

8.     Engages with customers to plan, implement, and deliver data analysis for a broad range of complex experimental activities.

9.     Writes and prepares final papers to support findings; submits evidence for publication.

Education:

Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Genetics or related field of molecular biology is required.

Experience:

Five (5) years experience directly related to bioinformatics is required.
