Bioethics and Health Policy Faculty (Open Rank)

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for an open rank tenure-track/tenured faculty position to begin in Summer 2024. While we welcome all applications, we encourage applicants who have success in obtaining extramural funding for empirical bioethics research to apply.

Applicants should have demonstrated scholarship in the field, a record of accomplishment or commitment to obtaining external funding for research, demonstrated skills in collaborating across disciplines, and a strong commitment to medical education. Applicants must have a terminal post-graduate degree (JD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in bioethics, philosophy, neuroscience, law, social sciences, or other related field of study.  

The successful candidate will receive a start-up commitment to develop a funded research program within the Center and have protected time and effort to contribute to the Center's education mission.

Our faculty lead the clinical ethics consultation services at two hospitals in the Texas Medical Center with over 600 consultations per year. Since 1982, Center faculty have published over 200 books, chapters in scholarly books, and chapters in medical textbooks. In addition, Center faculty have published more than 2,000 papers in leading, peer-reviewed scientific, medical, bioethical, and medical humanities journals.
