Summary
The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for an open rank tenure-track/tenured faculty position to begin in Summer 2024. While we welcome all applications, we encourage applicants who have success in obtaining extramural funding for empirical bioethics research to apply.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have demonstrated scholarship in the field, a record of accomplishment or commitment to obtaining external funding for research, demonstrated skills in collaborating across disciplines, and a strong commitment to medical education. Applicants must have a terminal post-graduate degree (JD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in bioethics, philosophy, neuroscience, law, social sciences, or other related field of study.
The successful candidate will receive a start-up commitment to develop a funded research program within the Center and have protected time and effort to contribute to the Center's education mission.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, current CV, and a one-page summary of research interests and plans, to the Research Faculty Selection Committee via the online application.

The Center for Medical Ethics & Health Policy has 20 primary faculty members, 34 secondary faculty, 27 scholars, and over 35 fellows and staff, housed on the main Baylor campus in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Our Center's faculty teach in the undergraduate and graduate medical education curricula, direct an award-winning ethics pathway and a health policy pathway for advanced medical students, and have developed a comprehensive College-wide graduate medical education curriculum in ethics, professionalism, and health policy. Center faculty are actively engaged in funded research supported by the NIH, PCORI, and private foundations. Center faculty currently have over 20 externally funded grants and contracts totaling over $4 million in funding. Our faculty lead the clinical ethics consultation services at two hospitals in the Texas Medical Center with over 600 consultations per year. Since 1982, Center faculty have published over 200 books, chapters in scholarly books, and chapters in medical textbooks. In addition, Center faculty have published more than 2,000 papers in leading, peer-reviewed scientific, medical, bioethical, and medical humanities journals.
