About the Department
 

The TMW Center for Early Learning + Public Health (TMW Center) is an interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Chicago that develops and scales evidence-based interventions designed to support parents and caregivers in their efforts to optimize the foundational brain development of children, birth to three years, through talk and interaction. TMW curricula integrate neuroscience, early childhood development research, adult learning strategies and stakeholder feedback on a multimedia platform. Our approach harnesses technology, works across systems, and informs how to bring best practices and interventions that work to scale.


Job Summary
 

Conceptualize, design, and deliver evidence-based English and Spanish language interventional curricula focused on parenting and child development for the TMW Center for Early Learning plus Public Health team, a social science research institute at the University of Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage planning and development of the curricula, including identifying learning needs and instructional goals of target audiences.

  • Leads cultural adaptation, translation and building of Spanish-language curricula, including video production.

  • Manages the development and maintenance of print, multimedia, and web-based curricula resources.

  • Ensures all TMW curricula content is in line with current research and enhanced for optimal user experience for in-person, online and hybrid implementation.

  • Facilitates communication between organizations curriculum, research, and implementation arms.

  • Coordinates across research and implementation arms and senior leadership on behalf of the curriculum team.

  • Designs, builds, manages and maintains database of organizational visual elements.

  • Manages and trains research assistants on print and multimedia content generation.

  • Reviews Spanish language document translation and adaptions across organization.

  • Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.

  • Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Child Development, Language Development, or related field.

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience working with Spanish speaking populations; in both Spanish and English.

  • 3 years of experience creating interventional bilingual curricula, preferably on parenting and child development.

  • Proficiency in verbal and written English and Spanish.

  • 3 years of experience in the job offered or Instructional Design, including project planning and management.

  • Experience working in Social Science research institute, or equivalent.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Experience with graphic design, video production + editing (Premiere Pro or equivalent), and LMS software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva/Absorb, Articulate 360).
