Summary

Under the general direction of the Director for Virtual Hospital - Hospital Care at Home, where acutely ill patients are treated in the comfort of their own home, under the Division of Post-Acute Care Services, the analyst performs duties designed to maximize the business intelligence capabilities for Michigan Medicine Electronic Health Records (EHR).

Responsibilities*

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst has independent responsibility for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining reports, data extracts and data visualizations in the assigned Epic MiChart application, other applications as assigned, and/or data sources in support of assigned operational strategic objectives within clinical, business and regulatory functions.   This role also provides general end-user and analytic support to the application and/or data source.  Customers of this work include Nursing teams, Social Work teams, Pharmacy teams, regulatory reporting agencies, Finance teams, Revenue Cycle teams, Strategic Planning and Business Development teams, Human Resources teams, and the Post-Acute Care Leadership team.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

?         Develop, implement and maintain reports and extracts to support the Epic MiChart and Cesia applications, and other applications from disparate data sources.

?         Design, develop, implement and maintain dashboards and data visualizations to support enterprise business intelligence capabilities, assigned operational objectives, and/or project-based assignments.

?         Manage cross functional unit projects and/or teams which include project planning, task management, and status reporting.

?         Provide reporting and analytics troubleshooting, performance improvement, and end user support.

?         Assist in identifying and leading change management processes for new/improved business processes/BI tools and resources.

?         Collaborate with Post-Acute Care Triad and Virtual Hospital - Hospital Care at Home leadership team to promote data and analytic strategic and operational goals.

?         Collaborate with Health Information Technology Services (HITS) team members to identify improvements to the electronic medical record system to better capture data needed for Quality Improvement and clinical care improvement.

?         Manage day-to-day activities including prioritizing tasks and communicating effectively with customers, team members and application developers.

?         Participates in organization sponsored staff education.

?         Participate in the Virtual Hospital - Hospital Care at Home QAPI Committee.

?         Participate in the Virtual Hospital - Hospital Care at Home Patient Safety Committee.

?         Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with Hospital Care at Home Administrative Director and Medical Director, and other core support team members.

?         Partners with other business units within Post-Acute Care Services (PACS) Michigan Visiting Nurses, House Calls, Patient Monitoring at Home, SubAcute, Wheelchair Seating Service, HomeMed Specialty Pharmacy, PACS Triad, Providers, and other University of Michigan Health faculty and staff.

?         Takes responsibility for working knowledge of University of Michigan, Michigan Medicine and departmental policies and procedures, including the compliance program.

?         Participates in education programs, as an attendee or lecturer, to bring back knowledge to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care.

?         Assumes responsibility of additional programs as assigned.

?         Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications*

Senior Level

?         Bachelor's Degree is required.

?         5+ years of relevant experience.

?         Epic Certification in the Clinical Data Model (4 classes: Cogito, Caboodle, Clarity, and the Clinical Data Model) is required within 4-6 months of hire or previous Data Model Certification required.

?         Excellent time management and customer service skills.

?         Demonstrated ability to deal with complex, team-oriented, often changing, and dynamic work environment.

?         Independent, self-starter who knows how/when to use effective issue resolution and escalation management skills.

Intermediate Level

?         Bachelor's Degree is required

?         3-5 years of relevant experience.

?         Epic Certification in the Clinical Data Model (4 classes: Cogito, Caboodle, Clarity, and the Clinical Data Model) is required within 4-6 months of hire or previous Data Model Certification required.

?         Excellent time management and customer service skills.

?         Demonstrated ability to deal with complex, team-oriented, often changing, and dynamic work environment.

?         Independent, self-starter who knows how/when to use effective issue resolution and escalation management skills.

Physical Requirements:

The employee will be able to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations: ability to work in a sedentary position for long periods of time, ability to communicate/ exchange information, fine motor coordination/dexterity necessary for keyboarding or typing, and may require standing/walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, moving about, lifting of up to 10 pounds, etc., with or without the use of assistive/adaptive devices.


Desired Qualifications*

?         Proficiency in an Epic data model application is highly desired.

?         Experience with Tableau Desktop and data visualization is desired.

?         Experience with SQL or another similar query tool is desired.

?         Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills is desired.

?         Ability to adhere to processes and team coding and maintenance standards is desired.

?         Ability to function effectively as a member of a cross-functional team in a matrixed environment is desired.

?         MS/MA in Computer Science, Mathematics, Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Engineering, Art, Linguistics, Psychology, or a related field is desired.

?         LEAN Certification and/or 6 sigma green/black belt.

?         Knowledge of University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine policies, procedures, and practices.


Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, Flexible Hours with Core Hours 9:30a.m. to 3:00p.m.

Additional Information

Must comply with all Michigan Medicine Occupational Health requirements including annual flu immunization.


Background Screening
