Bernard A. and Lenore S. Greenberg Legal Scholar Fellowship 2024-26
University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number: JPF09273
The UCLA School of Law is pleased to offer a fellowship designed to attract UCLA law school alumni who are interested in becoming a law professor. This two-year fellowship program is expected to begin in the fall. It is potentially renewable for one additional year based on the fellow's scholarly progress.
Program
The Greenberg Fellow will be expected to teach a total of three courses over the term of the fellowship and produce at least one legal academic article of publishable quality during each of the two years in residence. The fellow will receive substantial faculty mentorship with their scholarly writing and teaching, and they will participate in the intellectual life of the law school, including faculty workshops. The position is full-time, year-round, non-tenure track, limited-term appointment. The annual salary rate is $75,000 plus a competitive benefits package, and some research and travel support.
Qualifications
A JD from UCLA Law School is required. (Please note that the fellowship used to be open only to the alumni of the UCLA Law Review, but Law Review membership is no longer a requirement.) UCLA Law LLM degree holders are also eligible to apply but they must also hold a JD degree or other doctoral degree not necessarily from UCLA.
Applicants should have a strong law school record and have demonstrated an outstanding aptitude for producing independent legal scholarship. Fellows will be chosen on the basis of their demonstrated commitment to a scholarly career, the quality of their research proposal, and an assessment of their potential for success on the legal academic market. UCLA School of Law is committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activities and to a campus climate that supports equality and diversity.
About the Donor
Support for the Fellowship comes from Bernard Greenberg '53, JD 58 and Lenore Greenberg '57. The Greenbergs established this program in recognition of the importance to UCLA Law of increasing the number of alumni who pursue academic careers. Bernard is currently a member of the UCLA Law Board of Advisors, served as editor-in-chief of Volume 5 of the UCLA Law Review, was a teaching fellow at Harvard, and served on the UCLA Law faculty as an adjunct professor. Both Bernard and Lenore are serious patrons of the arts in Los Angeles, and Bernard maintains a private law practice in Beverly Hills.
