Hybrid Remote-Must reside in the state of Georgia and be able to commute to the Emory campus at least once a week.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Facilitates benefit presentations for new hire orientation, annual enrollment and to meet departmental benefit-related needs.
  • Advises employees and departments on benefits eligibility guidelines and options.
  • May provide assistance to employees trying to enroll on-line in benefits programs.
  • Serves as a resource for internal and external HR partners and employees to ensure benefits matters in a Reduction in Force situation are understood and executed properly.
  • Reviews monthly arrears reports and provides direction to employees and/or department HR representatives in how to make necessary salary or benefits changes to clear arrears and assure that all premiums are collected appropriately.
  • Reviews Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) change reports and makes any necessary adjustments to ensure employees' premiums for benefits are correct.
  • Provides customer service and advocates for the benefit participant to resolve complex claim, eligibility and coverage issues.
  • Acts as a facilitator between the employee/participant and health, welfare, retirement and voluntary program vendors.
  • Performs benefit administration activities in support of core transaction processing, including but not limited to, health and welfare benefits and retirement plan benefits.
  • Meets with employees approaching retirement and provides information regarding benefits in retirement and the integration between Emory benefits and Medicare.
  • Provides information regarding options for distributions from the retirement 403(b) plan.
  • Contributes to the development of or improvement of established procedures.
  • Researches communication, operational issues or other benefits related problems to root cause and shares knowledge with Benefits team.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvement to continuously improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Consults with client departments to promote the benefit programs and educate faculty and staff members on benefit programs, policies and processes.
  • Performs demographic analysis to identify communication and education opportunities targeted for client departments.
  • Ensures required paperwork, record-keeping and documentation is complete and accurate for data entry into PeopleSoft system.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field and three years of professional level experience in employee benefits or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with MS-Suite of products and PeopleSoft systems and applications.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
