Department Summary
The UNT System Human Resources Department is one department made of a team of teams that supports various constituencies and component institutions within our UNT System Enterprise while working together to achieve the vision of becoming an enterprise that is values-driven and customer-focused with an emphasis on excellence, curiosity, and innovation. Position Overview
This position provides administrative support for the effective administration of Human Resource services and programs in the area of benefits. This position reports to the Senior Director, Benefits and serves as a customer-focused and engaged member of the Benefits Team.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience or training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  •  Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource management.
  •  Basic knowledge of common employee benefits practices and procedures.
  •  Strong communication skills (writing, oral and listening).
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills.
  •  Proficient in the use of office computer systems, as well as commonly used office machines.
  •  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, as well as some experience using human resource or employee benefit information systems.
  •  Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple assignments.
  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  •  Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with frequently changing priorities.
  •  Ability to use appropriate telephone etiquette and courteous communications with co-workers and the public.

Job Duties


o
Receives inbound calls/emails and answers general inquiries using knowledge of current HR procedures and practices.
o
Displays high level of responsiveness to customer’s needs, maintaining excellent customer service skills at all times.
o
Maintains current knowledge of organizational structure of all UNT System institutions and policies and procedures relevant to assigned area of responsibility.
o
Assist new employees with inquiries regarding participation in the Group Benefits Plan including: enrolling new employees in insurance coverage; determining eligibility for changes due to Qualifying Life Events; Annual Enrollment.
o
Assist with processes within EIS (PeopleSoft) for Benefits to ensure that employee enrollments and terminations are processed correctly.
o
Serves as back-up support for Benefits Advisor.
o
Assist with data entry regarding institutional insurance programs including health, dental, disability, life, long term care and flexible spending programs.
o
Assist with data entry regarding institutional retirement programs including deferred compensation plans.
o
Assist with completion, review and processing of employee benefit and other human resource related forms.
o
Assist with FMLA and Sick Leave Pool processing inquiries.
