Job Description:

Salary Range $53,000 - $63,000

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the benefits administration in support of SUNY Poly HR. This position has primary responsibility and oversight of benefits, leaves, ADA compliance, workers' compensation, employee onboarding and employee engagement.  This position will also manage a multitude of other responsibilities that will include and not be limited to quality assurance and HR projects.  Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Benefits Administration:  Provides employees with all relevant information regarding benefits including explanation of benefits packages, eligibility requirements, enrollment deadlines, and changes. Benefits programs include health insurance, vision care, dental plan, prescription drug coverage, retirement plans, tax sheltered annuities (i.e., 403(b), 457 deferred compensation), disability programs, flexible spending programs, and any other benefits that may be negotiated. Develops, conducts and/or coordinates workshops including new employee benefits orientations, pre-retirement seminars, retirement planning sessions, and other programs as needed. Communicates appropriate benefits information to employees in a timely, professional and courteous manner. This will include information regarding new options for employees and/or changes that effect an employee's current benefits or benefits status. Responsible for benefits enrollments. This includes data entry of health insurance enrollments through NYBEAS, and enrollments in retirement systems and tax-sheltered annuities through payroll. Monitors payroll transactions to determine benefits eligibility and assigns coding to ensure that appropriate information is given to employees.

Employee Leaves:  Advises faculty and staff regarding entitlements and options for taking maternity, paternity, medical and other leaves. Assists employees with completing necessary leave paperwork. Ensures that confidential leave files are maintained. 

Workers' Compensation:  Point of contact for all workers' compensation cases.Files C-2 forms for workplace accidents. Logs and tracks all workplace accidents on Accident Report System (ARS). Files and posts DOSH 900 in February of each year. Case management (i.e., appropriate letters, proper billing, return to work transition, etc.)

ADA Compliance:  Administers, manages and responds to accommodation requests under the American with Disabilities Act. Manages cases (work with employees, health care providers, and supervisors ensuring return-to-work is in accordance with campus policy and assists in setting up light duty programs as appropriate.) Educates the campus community on ADA matters.

Tuition Assistance Programs:  Oversees the tuition assistance/reimbursement programs including the college-wide B140W Tuition Assistance Program, and the union specific programs such as LEAP, PBANYS, M/C, UUP Space Available. Makes award recommendations for the B140W program.

Employee Engagement and Retention:  Administers and is responsible for the campus-wide committee to plan, coordinate and implement the Annual Employee Recognition Luncheon. Plans and coordinates the annual SUNY Blooms Program. Serves as the SEFA Campaign committee chair. Serves on various committees including the Employee Wellness Committee and the Annual Holiday Luncheon Committee.

Other reasonable duties as assigned; may supervise another position.

The primary location for this position is in Utica.


Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or other related field from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.  1 to 3 years of Human Resources experience.

Applicants must demonstrate independence in completing tasks and exhibit leadership in the area of benefits demonstrating skills that encompass excellent written and spoken communication skills to include clear, concise, and highly accurate delivery.   Must be able to take initiate and be resourceful in problem solving.  Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and be able to independently problem solve and be solution driven.  The ability to employ appropriate discretion in all interactions and distinguish priorities is a must.  Must be proficient in Microsoft office products.
