Course: Group Dynamics and Process

This course provides a broad understanding of group development stages, group dynamics, group counseling theories, and ethical standards pertaining to group work. In addition, this course explores theoretical approaches to group work. The course also addresses the growth and development of group members.

Candidates may be approved to teach the following courses as well: Ethics of Behavioral Health Science, Cultural and Social Diversity in Behavioral Health, Report Writing, Research, and Information Literacy in Behavioral Health, Human Development, Introduction to Family Dynamics, Understanding Trauma, Childhood and Adolescence Disorders, Introduction to Childhood and Adolescent Physical and Behavioral Health, Introduction to Couples and Family Systems, Marriage and Family Ethical and Legal Issues, Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care, Overview of Assessment and Treatment of Trauma, Infancy and Early Childhood Development, and/or Professional Capstone Project

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom
  • Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes
  • Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University

What You Will Bring:

  • Doctorate in Counseling Education OR
    • Counseling OR
    • Social Work OR
    • Marriage and Family Therapy OR
    • Behavioral Health OR
    • Mental Health OR
    • Clinical Psychology OR
    • Counseling Psychology
  • AND Associate or Independent level license in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology
  • AND minimum of 1-2 years of field related experience
  • Or Master’s in any of the above areas
