Position Summary

The Basic Needs Coordinator is responsible for oversight of administration, tracking, and assessment of emergency support through the food pantry and the Helplink Grant. Responsibilities include economic crisis intervention, student advocacy, reporting, and referral to on and off-campus wellness resources. Additionally, the Basic Needs Coordinator plans, implements, and assesses campus-wide programming that meets the needs of under-resourced and high-need students. The coordinator develops and maintains relationships with campus and community partners, including but not limited to The AACC Foundation and the Maryland Food Bank. The Basic Needs Coordinator has oversight of one Part-Time Assistant. This position requires strong knowledge and experience in student advocacy, food and housing insecurity, community support resources and economic emergency management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, implement and assess campus-wide programs,workshops, and services designed to and meet the needs of under-resourced and high-needs students. Develop and implement educational initiatives and outreach to students, staff, and community members. Participate in related department functions. Must be available on nights and weekends as needed. Serve as a member of divisional and college-wide committees.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with the community and campus partners, including but not limited to the Student Government Association and other constituency groups on campus. Collaborate with Academic Advising, Financial Aid, and other student support services to provide comprehensive and cohesive services, information, and programs to all AACC students. Research external funding opportunities to support emergency support services and basic needs programming.
Develop, maintain, evaluate, and provide budget management of the campus-wide Helplink program. Primary oversight for program reporting and data collection. Make recommendations for additional services that may be provided to students. Primary oversight for the operations, maintenance, and records of Helplink participants in person, by phone, or by e-mail. Coordinate with the Office of Community Standards to update and maintain student data and staff access current data system(Maxient).
Recruit, interview, hire, and train, and oversee part-time student engagement staff and federal work-study students.
Develop, maintain, and evaluate food pantry services at all campus locations. Serve as point of contact for Maryland Food Bank partnership. Attend required training and provide direct oversight and fiscal management of related grants and AACC Foundation sponsorships. Responsible for reporting and collecting data for stakeholders/community partners.
Manage student cases and follow up with students as needed to ensure needs are met. Responsibilities include verification of enrollment, assessment of need, verify financial aid eligibility, process payment for external vendors to support student needs(i.e. rent, utilities, books etc.).

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 2 years of experience in student affairs/student services environment. Experience includes internships and graduate assistantships.
Ability to work well, interact effectively, and plan programs with diverse populations, including traditional and non-traditional students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Experience with Case Management, Budgeting, and Assessment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Zoom
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Including public speaking and facilitation of workshops.

Preferred Qualifications:

Community college experience preferred.
Experience working with community agencies such as Maryland Food Bank and Hungry Harvest.
Knowledge of student development theory, engagement and high impact practices in higher education
Project management skills and familiarity with program evaluation
Knowledge of community resources available for persons experiencing financial difficulties, food insecurities, houselessness, etc.
