Hiring Salary: $5,515.71 - $7,527.24/Monthly

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   The Banner Engineer leads the technical development and enhancement of custom applications and reports to meet the customers’ needs within UTHSC’s Student Information System, Ellucian’s Banner.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support, develops applications for new projects, and utilizes functionality within the tools to aid in making campus units more productive.
  • Integrates various third-party software packages with existing campus software. 
  • Provides campus users with systems analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of the systems development lifecycle, and software application development.
  • Develops detailed test plans and works with the project team to develop user testing to ensure requirements are met and user acceptance is obtained.
  • Identifies, utilizes, and improves new technology to enhance the student, faculty, and staff experience.
  • Collaborates with members of Banner, Data, Web Teams, and other ITS Teams to coordinate task completion and to design, develop, and test applications.
  • Communicates with users to determine requirements on trouble tickets and reporting requests, and to convey progress on changes.
  • Serves as a mentor to members of the Enterprise Application and Data Services team on project/task requirements and members of ITS on the best practices of Banner development.
  • Researches and analyses emerging technologies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of relevant programming experience with SQL; OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal eleven (11) years. (Experience with Ellucian Banner and agile development methodologies is preferred.) 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Skill in programming in a high-level language, such as but not limited to PHP, SQL, or PL/SQL.
    • Knowledge of Oracle relational databases.
    • Knowledge of various programming languages and environments.

    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. This position may require overnight travel.
