JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reporting to the Director of Research Grants and Contracts, manages activities involved in the complex award setup process of research administration, manages associated data elements for maintenance of existing awards, and manages a team of Award Analysts.
  • Is responsible for reviewing and approving award setup entries for their respective teams, determining and implementing the setup and maintenance of all sponsored programs within the assigned area(s).
  • Evaluates new awards, continuations, supplements, modifications and provisional accounts created by Award Specialists, checking for accuracy in contract/award interpretation, detailed budgets, and PeopleSoft data entry.
  • Ensures accuracy and data integrity of key award elements including billing and payment milestones, maintenance of sponsor information, cost sharing obligations, and new project creation.
  • Is responsible for collaborating with University business managers, Research Administration Services (RAS) units, departmental administrators and faculty, as appropriate.
  • Other responsibilities include evaluating workflow and workload distribution of assigned team, external stakeholder training, and assisting the Director in trouble shooting award setup issues in PeopleSoft as well as identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Participates in the preparation of business case studies, system testing and testing documentation, and other system improvement initiatives, as needed.
  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates a small staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Prior management experience and PeopleSoft experience.
  • Experience working with metrics and reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of research administration and/or award terms and conditions experience, including some management/supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A master's degree in business or information technology or CRA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret grant award notices, federal and commercial contracts, invoicing requirements and payment milestones.
  • Experience with the PeopleSoft Financials and Grants module, or equivalent ERP system, is strongly preferred.
