AVP, Engagement & Pipeline Development

JOB SUMMARY

  The Assistant Vice President for Engagement and Pipeline will report directly to the Vice President and Chief Development Officer and will help lead UTHSA's engagement and pipeline strategies as it relates to philanthropic brand efforts toward continued and enhanced achievement in revenue generation to help further the university's mission and priorities.

  The AVP for Engagement and Pipeline Development (AVP-EPD) will be a member of the Office of Institutional Advancement's senior leadership team and will influence the strategy and approach of the university's overall engagement of key stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally, as well as the approach to philanthropic communications strategic planning and brand development, content development, business relationships, and internal and external communications implementation and management.

  Of significant importance, the AVP-EPD will work in alignment with the VP and Chief Marketing Communications Officer to ensure all activities are complementary to, and in coordination with the university's broader brand efforts and communications strategies.

  The AVP-EPD will possess exemplary writing and communication skills and be able to articulate the priorities of the university in language that encourages understanding, positivity and action.  The AVP-EPD will have the ability to gather the full scope of the institution's history and future trajectory, especially as it relates to master and strategic plans, as well as presidential priorities for development.

  The AVP-EPD will be a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who can communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external constituents, including close partnership with the academic deans, other members of the executive committee, university-wide leaders, volunteer leaders, donors and others to leverage their talents, treasures, knowledge and skills.

 

Job Duties

  • Develops overarching philanthropic communications strategies for the university to support the strategic and master plans, presidential priorities and deans’ fundraising priorities as we look to develop and expand our philanthropic brand locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Responsible for messaging and strategies to design internal and external philanthropic communication experiences that result in engagement and revenue growth among varied stakeholder groups.
  • Serves as executive philanthropic brand relationship manager who forms, builds and improves relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations.
  • Influence philanthropic brand positioning for the university through written, verbal, visual, event and relationship-building strategies to enhance and grow engagement and revenue opportunities to support the mission and goals of the university.
  • Provide support for communications and philanthropic brand in collaboration with the Office of the President when warranted.
  • Oversees the strategic planning, development and implementation of all engagement as it relates to annual giving, grateful patient, donor relations and overall communications for OIA.
  • Work in partnership with senior OIA leaders to ensure comprehensive planning, consistent implementation and dynamic and meaningful communication to build and maintain a strong pipeline of support to ensure the mission and future of UTHSA.
  • This position will be expected to possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students, alumni, colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.

    Education

    Bachelor's degree required.

     

    Experience

    Minimum of seven (7) years of experience leading and managing major initiatives, teams, executive offices, brand and/or relationship management.

     

    Preferred

    Master's degree preferred.
