Your Duties We are seeking an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic Avian Biologist, to join our team in Overland Park, Kansas. Responsibilities will include: - Conducting avian point-count surveys. Must be able to identify bird species by sight and sound. - Assisting with all field work, and collection of field data as needed. - Assisting with the coordination and management of environmental permitting, assessment, and/or compliance work related to the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act (BGEPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and various federal and state agency requirements as they pertain to a variety of project types including renewable energy, energy transmission and generation facilities, transportation, and private development projects. - Assisting Field Team Leaders, Task Managers, and Project Managers with the preparation, research, review, and editing of technical documents, such as field survey reports and other technical reports. - Analyzing and summarizing data from wildlife field surveys and habitat assessments for a variety of species. - Participating in multi-disciplinary environmental assessments; recording, entering, organizing, managing, and analyzing data. - Writing technical reports for client and regulatory agency review.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials Required Skills and Experience: - Knowledge and/or experience with federal, state, and/or local environmental permitting processes specifically related to endangered species, ESA, MBTA, BGEPA, and/or NEPA. - Ability to identify bird’s species by sight and sound. - Knowledge and experience with avian and wildlife field survey techniques and habitat assessments for a variety of species. - Willingness to travel, and the ability to work in the field for long hours in all weather conditions. - Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Education and Experience Master of Science Degree (preferred) in natural resources, ecology, wildlife, or related biological field; or a Bachelor of Science Degree with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience.
