Job Summary

Drexel University Center for Autism and Neurodiversity (CAN), in conjunction with the Drexel Counseling Center (DUCC), has an opening for a staff psychologist or therapist to provide direct psychological services to undergraduate and graduate students in CAN. Duties of the therapist in this position include provision of direct clinical services to students in CAN, including goal-focused individual therapy, crisis intervention, group therapy and workshops, as well as campus-wide outreach programming and consultation. As an Autism and Neurodiversity Specialist, the Psychologist/Therapist will also provide input into internal processes in DUCC and CAN. There may be opportunities to supervise trainees as part of APA accredited internship and externship programs. The position will be embedded at CAN and will work in concert with CAN and DUCC professionals and others on campus to provide an integrated approach to supporting neurodivergent college students.

Essential Functions

  • Provide autism and neurodiversity informed individual counseling, group therapy, initial assessments, crisis intervention, and referral services to students.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups, support groups, and conduct workshops for students with varying neurodivergent conditions, mostly autism.
  • Provide behavioral interventions both directly and indirectly.
  • Be available to provide brief intervention, drop-in hours, outreach, and consultation for CAN students.
  • Demonstrate commitment, skill and experience in diversity and inclusion programming and clinical expertise in working with traditionally underserved or marginalized populations.
  • Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and administration regarding CAN students.
  • May provide supervision to trainees.
  • Maintain APA professional ethics in all areas.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision.
  • Attend Counseling Center Staff meetings; divisional meetings as needed.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Director/Executive Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Psychology or related field for Staff Therapist; Minimum of a PsyD or PhD in psychology or related field for Staff Psychologist.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with people with autism.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to become licensed in the State of Pennsylvania within 3 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students from multiple marginalized identities, international students, and non-traditional students.
  • Excellent culturally informed counseling, crisis intervention and communication skills.
  • Strong organization and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience as a counselor working with autistic college students.
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time supervised internship in college or university counseling center or other relevant setting, preferably APA accredited.
  • Experience providing personal counseling, crisis intervention, assessment and consultation to late adolescent/early adult population or undergraduate and graduate students in a college or university setting (internship acceptable).

Additional Information

The Staff Therapist position (minimum of a Master’s Degree) is classified as Exempt, grade of K, salary range $54,630 - $81,940; The Staff Psychologist position (minimum of a PhD/PsyD Degree required) is classified as Exempt, grade of L, salary range $62,630 - $93,950. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
