Purpose

Support events and classes in Robert R. Rowling Hall with their AV needs, assist with any issues. Provide additional or back-up equipment if needed. Support event and stage setup in cooperation with other support staff.


Responsibilities

  • Provide support for day, evening and Saturday classes or events (schedule TBD plus on the rare occasion Sunday support). Set-up equipment, place stage furniture, tape cables, check system functionality. Staff Auditorium events mixing audio along with video switching. Assist production staff if needed, assist presenters, instruct event staff with operation if needed.
  • Set-up classrooms for hybrid learning and lecture capture, help operators or operate the video system. Ensure connectivity and presentation channel operation. Schedule lecture capture recordings. Edit recordings as needed and create effective file system for storage on the server. Maintain lecture capture recorders and keep them current.
  • Provide counter support for media services, assist in check out and reservation of equipment etc., to faculty, staff and students.
  • Learn the conceptual design of the AV system, be aware of reset procedures in case of an issue, perform on the spot trouble shooting and if not fixable, create a support ticket for tech staff.
  • May assist with annual inventory, maintaining and replacing installed AV equipment, assist in trouble shooting. Also, climbing ladders, running cables, hanging projectors and wall monitors.
  • Other related functions as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of Audio Visual practices and procedures, video conferencing experience including operation, call set-up and equipment.
  • Have a basic understanding of an AV system, familiar with different computer operating systems and their preferences/settings.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with video conferencing tools such as Zoom & Microsoft Teams.
  • Some experience with lecture capture systems such as Panopto and Mediasite.
  • Working knowledge of audio mixers and video switchers.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a high pressure situation in front of students and professors.


Salary Range

$43,500 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Works in a shared office environment.
  • Some lifting, up to 30 lbs.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events.
  • This position is not eligible for telecommuting or an adjusted work schedule.

Work Shift

  • Office Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Saturdays 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • 40 hour work week of this position will work 5 days within the window of our office hours, including alternating Saturdays.
