Job Summary

The Athletic Promotion Specialist will focus on enhancing marketing, promotions, fan experience, and sales efforts while leading innovative and collaborative efforts to engage the students, staff, alumni, supporters, and prospective fans. This position will report directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance with significant collaboration with UT Tyler Marketing and Communications.

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Responsible for growing sponsorship revenue through prospecting, securing, fulfilling, and retaining corporate sponsorships for the university’s intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Cultivate and enhance relationships with new/existing corporate sponsors, developing strategies to close and renew business in a timely manner and generate new revenue sources (i.e., video streaming platforms, etc.).
  • Collaborate with UT Tyler Marketing and Communications to deliver innovative, customized corporate sponsorship proposals following UT Tyler Athletics brand guidelines.
  • Negotiate contractual terms and obligations and produce sponsorship contracts/agreements.
  • Promotes revenue generation opportunities and coordinates sponsorship activation and in-game presentations with the Sports Information Coordinator.
  • Meet with coaching staff and department personnel 2-3 months prior to sport specific season to formulate the marketing plan for each sport in partnership with university marketing team.
  • Comply with all NCAA, Conference, University, State and Department of Athletics policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Two (2) year of relevant experience.
  • One (1) year of sales experience.
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Three (3) years of sales experience.
  • Experience in intercollegiate athletics.

Other Information

  • Various daytime hours plus non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and travel.
  • Multiple work locations, PHE GYM, outdoors, HPC Gym, weight room, dance studio, and PHE Offices.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
