Athletics Equipment and Facility Coordinator

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director, Internal Operations (with joint reporting to Associate Director, Recreation & Wellness), the Athletics Equipment and Facility Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Equipment Room and serves as facility supervisor to Babson’s recreation & athletics complex (LGRAC)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Equipment Room

  • Manages daily laundry for all varsity programs and other select areas (e.g., , Sports Medicine, LGRAC, Club Sports, etc.).
  • Follows and contributes to the creation of policies and procedures to ensure safe and proper use of equipment (e.g., washer, dryer, storage, sport-specific items, etc.).
  • Maintains current inventories, including issuance and retrieval of equipment and apparel for all varsity programs and other select areas. Fields daily issues that arise regarding missing and damaged items. Works with Associate Director to assess bills for missing items.
  • Responsible for transferring and storing equipment and apparel in active areas (e.g., locker rooms, playing surface, etc.).
  • Manages equipment room schedule (hours of operation and working shifts).Hires, trains, and oversees payroll for student workers.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of equipment room supplies (e.g., cleaning/sanitizing chemicals, loops, pad locks, towels, etc.).Handles/replaces chemicals and cleaning agents as needed.
  • Maintains working relationship with vendors who service laundry machines and cleaning agents.
  • Assists in the operations of hosting Conference and NCAA post-season competitions (e.g., laundry services for visiting teams, managing the merchandise table, etc.).

Facility Supervision

  • Act as a key holder for the complex securing spaces as needed and ensuring proper access to 10 Varsity and recreation athletic facilities including Morse swimming pool, Staake Gymnasium, indoor track and Lunder fitness centers.
  • Oversee on-duty student staffing to ensure all daily check lists are completed and report facility issues to the facilities manager.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to students, external membership, and external rental groups.
  • Provide an expert level of communication and programming knowledge regarding the recreation department and lead facility tours for prospective members as needed/required.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and safety of the Center, including daily upkeep and general cleaning duties of the wellness floor and various workout areas, fitness studios in the recreation center and webster center, front office area, restrooms, and outside spaces.
  • Assists the Athletics Business Development team with the day to day management and support of external rentals, programs, conferences, and summer camps as appropriate. May serve as the point of contact for external programs or events as necessary, including providing high level customer service to clients, ensuring events start and end on time, and all issues are dealt with appropriately.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

  • Regular physical exertion, walking and exposure to weather required; ability to travel; and moderate lifting required (65 pounds and under).
  • Regular evening/weekend work may be required.
  • Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College’s insurer’s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College’s vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee’s driving record based on the College insurer’s criteria; and safety training as required by management.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with a wide array of sports preferred.
