Duties and Tasks:
Saint Leo University is a Division II university located just north of Tampa and is part of the Sunshine State Conference. We are seeking applications for a full time, 10 month athletic trainer. Primary responsibilities for position are TBD but there is a possibility of baseball. Candidate must be available to work nights and weekends as well as travel with teams. Position to begin 8/2/2021.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work under the guidance and supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Director for Sports Medicine.
- Follow the medical guidelines provided by the Team Physicians
- Plan, coordinate, organize, and manage the daily treatment, rehabilitation, and injury evaluations for Saint Leo student-athletes, emphasizing prevention of athletic injuries
- Maintain accurate and updated documentation of all injuries and general medical incidents using the Sportsware record-keeping system; including initial SOAP notes, daily progress notes, treatment records, rehabilitation programs, and appointment logs
- Be knowledgeable of and enforce all Saint Leo Sports Medicine/Athletics policies and procedures including but not limited to: drug and substance abuse, mental health, concussion management, lightning, heat illness, nutrition and supplements, and catastrophic incidents
- Be knowledgeable of the medical emergency action plan for all assigned venues and ensure that the appropriate emergency equipment is available at each event
- Serve as a preceptor for students in the USF Graduate Athletic Training Program. This will require formal training to ensure proper supervision and learning for students
- Annual dues and continuing education money will be provided.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- NATA certification
- Florida State Licensure eligible
Skills:
- Care and prevention of injuries
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent record keeping.
