The Athletic Assistant is responsible for developing, proposing and implementing marketing plans for the purpose of encouraging increased attendance and enhancing the fan experience for select athletic programs. This includes designing and placing advertising materials, developing and directing promotions, managing game-day staff, and being the primary athletics marketing contact for the respective sport. Responsible for collaborating with Texas A&M Ventures (corporate sponsorships), 12th Man Foundation (donations & ticketing), 12th Man Productions (video), and other athletics support staff on a daily basis. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Goal & task oriented with strong customer relations, problem solving, and communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others


Other Requirements:

  • Nights, weekends and holidays are required to complete assigned duties
  • May require at times, light lifting, standing at length and other physical activities both indoor and outdoor

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • One year of intercollegiate athletics experience

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Creative and self-motivated to accomplish tasks assigned

Responsibilities:

  • Promotions & Sponsorship Activation - Develop, direct and enhance in-game promotions to maximize the fan experience. Work with A&M Ventures (corporate partnership rights holder) to implement sponsored inventory as it relates to assigned sports and maximize engagement on sold promotions.
  • Marketing & Advertising Initiatives - Responsible for planning and implementing marketing initiatives to increase attendance at assigned sports (i.e. Swimming & Diving, Equestrian, Men's Tennis & Women's Tennis) while working closely and communicating effectively with coaches and staff colleagues. Particular focus on creativity and group sales. Assist with implementing marketing initiatives for other select sports as needed.
  • Project & Event Management - Appropriately manages time and budget to meet project goals by deadline. Manages game-day/event staff to maximize efficiencies.
  • Youth & community Engagement - Responsible for marketing and implementing the Junior Aggie Club (JAC, Kids Club) program to solicit new members, create a minimum of two events throughout the academic year, and work with the respective athletics marketing administrator to include JAC activities in their marketing plans for the season(s). Additionally, maintain the department's Charity Request program and represent A&M Athletics at select community outreach events.
  • Compliance - Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.
  • Student Development - Assist in managing and mentoring student marketing team employees at select events. Other duties as assigned
