Description

The Marshall Space Flight Center has a research opportunity at the postdoctoral level within the astrophysics program. Applications are invited for investigations in data science research for future space-borne gravitational-wave missions. The research will work with Dr. Tyson Littenberg of NASA/MSFC. A background in gravitational wave astrophysics and Bayesian inference is an advantage, but is not required.

Current Marshall gravitational wave data science interests include:

Gravitational wave detection and characterization algorithm development, ultra-compact binary astrophysics, tests of general relativity and fundamental physics with gravitational waves, multi-messenger astrophysics, and low-latency gravitational wave detection and detector characterization. Marshall team members are actively involved in development of prototype data science tools for the LISA mission, and analysis of data from the LISA Pathfinder mission
