ASSISTANT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH

General Responsibilities - Serve as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.  Assist head coach in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the basketball team. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the head coach with the recruiting, academic oversight, fundraising, and coordinating of camps and coaching clinics. Maintain knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Duties include the following:

  • Assist with daily practice and game coaching
  • Recruit prospective student athletes
  • Assist with team travel and equipment check out and return
  • Assist with summer camps and clinics
  • Enforce NCAA and regulations regarding team participation

ACADEMIC SERVICES COORDINATOR

General Responsibilities – Assist with oversight, direction, and management of the academic support systems and student-athlete welfare. Serve as liaison to Academic Affairs, Academic Advisors, Faculty, Counseling Center, Disability Access Center, the Dean of Students Office, Residential Life and the Career Center. Lead priority registration process and monitor student-athletes progress towards degree. Assists with student-athlete welfare, leadership development, department wide educational programming and community engagement activities. Maintain knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Duties include the following:

  • Assist with the oversight, direction, and management of the academic support systems and student-athlete welfare. Organize and implement academic success programs that increase the likelihood of academic success among student-athletes. Assist with academic plans for student-athletes.
  • Assist and advise student-athletes. Lead priority registration process, communicate with student-athletes and coaches throughout process and assist students with scheduling of courses. Create academic success plan for at-risk student-athletes which includes degree requirements. In concert with Associate AD for Compliance, develop academic recovery plans for ineligible student-athletes. Advise student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility in completing their degree at Purdue Northwest.
  • Assist with academic success systems including fall orientation workshops, team travel absence request letters, hiring tutors and study hall proctors, and mid-term progress reporting. Meet with student-athletes considering schedule modifications (add/drop) and verify continued enrollment in at least 12 credit hours. Assist with monitoring and reporting system for assessing student-athlete course performances and provide results to coaches and Director of Athletics. Maintain student-athlete handbook.
  • Work closely with Faculty Athletic Representative to ensure that lines of communication with the Faculty are open and well-established Serve as liaison to Academic Affairs, Academic Advisors, Faculty, Counseling Center, Disability Access Center, Dean of Students Office, Residential Life and Career Center. Work closely with the Registrar to track academic progress and progress towards degree.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
