Position Overview
The University of Kansas is seeking a Professor of the Practice to teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS). The EECS Department serves over 1,000 undergraduate students in its five BS programs: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Science, and Applied Computing. While teaching needs exist in all our programs, we have a specific need in Computer Engineering.
This position is a full-time, academic-year appointment and can be filled at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor of the Practice rank, based on years of qualified experience. The appointment is limited term for 3 years and is renewable subject to review and funding.

This course also covers the following items: Programming in C and assembly language; input and output of physical systems; collecting data from sensors; and controlling external devices. The course focuses on one or two specific microprocessors, software development and organization, and building embedded systems. This course has a lab section and is supported by multiple graduate teaching assistants (GTAs).
This Assistant Professor of the Practice will teach in-person classes on the University of Kansas-Lawrence campus. The courses assigned will include the Embedded Systems course described above plus others at the discretion of the Department Chair. Courses with separate lab sections will have additional GTA assistance for the lab experience and to support grading, etc.
