Job Summary
  • Eastern Washington University is looking for an Assistant Athletic Director-Marketing/Creative Services to join our team.
  • Working closely with the Deputy AD-External Affairs, this position will coordinate and implement the annual marketing campaign, ticket sales strategy, video board operations, live game streams, fan experience, game operations, assist special events, cheer & mascot supervision, and student worker supervision for the department of athletics.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years of marketing, promotions and ticketing experience
  • Supervisory experience

    Responsibility / Duty
    30% – Develop, coordinate and implement annual marketing campaign for the department of intercollegiate athletics to include:
    · Determine goals and objectives of promotional campaign for each sport and/or promotional activity; review with Deputy AD – External
    · Analyze internals/external environments for the potential success of promotional activities
    · Select target markets and develop specific strategies for each identified target market
    · Assign work to others in support of marketing campaign
    · Determine correct promotional media for each target market
    · Initiate promotional strategy in coordination with other university programs
    · Monitor and modify the strategy during the promotional period
    · Develop/coordinate/execute all promotional materials (season tickets booklets/sheets, schedule posters, schedule cards, billboards, flyers, radio, social media, newspaper)
    · Budget – Monitor/execute marketing/promotions/video board/live stream budget to insure all expenses are appropriately balanced
    · Evaluate the effectiveness and/or ineffectiveness of the campaign upon completion
    - Develop, coordinate and implement annual promotional strategy for department of intercollegiate athletics to include:
    · Develop and implement yearly athletic strategic marketing plan
    · Monitor departmental advertising budget to ensure expenditures are appropriate
    · Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of competitors
    · Direct athletic marketing campaign within framework of the university’s overall marketing plan
    · Evaluate the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of the strategy
    -Creative Services
    · Collaborate with Creative Services Director and Sports Information office staff to manage athletic department social media accounts, staffing, creative content and video creation.
    30% – Game Operations
    · Game music production (football, volleyball, soccer, men’s & women’s basketball)
    · Ball Crew responsibilities for (volleyball, men’s & women’s basketball games)
    · Coordinate – National anthem singers, color guard, ROTC canon, in-game promotions, game music, ball crew (for select sports),
    · Coordinate facility signage installation off-season/in-season with facility crew. Put up game day signage. Maintain relationship with Learfield representative on marketing, signage and promotional initiatives
    · Reese Court Scores table operations (production of LED animations, sponsor signage, screens)
    10% – Director – Eagle Vision (Roos Field / Reese Court videoboards)
    · Athletic department director of video boards and operations during all home games (football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball)
    · Oversight of maintenance, equipment, updates, purchases
    · Athletic department contact for Daktronics/TriCaster
    · Content creator for in-game, promotional, fan-engagement video board material
    o Set-up all in-studio video shoots with dedicated sports
    · Hire/supervise (8) student workers annually to run video board operations during home events
    o Duties Include:
    § 5 camera/equipment operators
    § 3 video board operators
    10%- Director – Live Game Web streams (ESPN+)
    · Athletic department liaison of EWU Athletics live home game streams w/hired freelance production company.
    o Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball (as of 2022)
    · Athletic Department
    · Maintain open communication with Big Sky Conference, ESPN, and freelance web stream producer/crew personnel
    10%- Direct Supervisor of Student Staff
    · Hire/oversight of marketing/promotions, game operations, video board, live game stream student staff
    o Marketing/promotions/game operations (10-12 students annually)
    o Videoboard / live game streams (8 students annually)
    10%- EWU Administrative Support (EWU Cheerleaders / Mascot Swoop)s

    o Collaborate with cheer coaches on hiring/oversight of annual mascot tryouts for 3 EWU students
