Position Summary | The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM) is responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of admissions to GSU including recruitment and admission strategies designed to meet institutional enrollment goals for freshmen, transfer, international and graduate students. The AVPEM will ensure a compelling and knowledgeable presentation of Governors State University to prospective students, parents, educators, and others; overseeing the evaluation of applications; leading, inspiring, and motivating a staff of professionals; and overseeing departmental technology use, publications, web, data collection, program/process evaluation, and departmental planning. The AVPEM will oversee and supervise the Director of Graduate Admissions and Retention, Executive Director of Admissions, Executive Director of Financial Aid and Registration, and the Director of International Services. This includes their staff to ensure collaboration in the attainment of enrollment goals. The AVPEM will manage the department personnel and operating budget. The AVPEM will also be responsible for the execution of Governors State University’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan. This includes but is not limited to the undergraduate, graduate, and international recruitment/retention. This position will lead several committees to support the SEM Plan to help ensure enrollment goals. |
Minimum Qualifications | • Master’s degree at an accredited college/university. • 5 + years of experience in a position of leadership specifically within university enrollment areas at a similarly accredited college/university (e.g., assistant vice president or director level position with oversight of all or a significant portion of the enrollment operations). • Previous experience with relevant student information systems such as Ellucian/Colleague, Slate CRM, Lexmark Imaging. • Supervisory experience of full time professional personnel. |
Preferred Qualifications | • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a field of study consistent with higher education administration, student affairs, or counseling. • Administrative experience at an accredited college or university in college admissions and/or other areas of enrollment managemenUstudent affairs/academic affairs to extend years of experience in higher education to 4+ in a related field. • Experience with constituents similar to those attending GSU (lower division students, transfer students/adult learners, diverse demographics). • Evidence of engagement in institutional and/or professional leadership beyond required for specific departmental responsibility (such as committee work, projects outside of admissions, understanding of other professional areas of the institution such as classroom/faculty, financial aid, registrar, housing, marketing and/or engagement in professional associations through presenting, attending conferences and/or writing). • Experience working with both labor and non-labor affiliated personnel. • Evidence of data driven decision-making. |
