The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni, and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research, and care. See PAE's site for more details: pae.pitt.edu. PAE is seeking an Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement Technology and Records. The Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement Technology and Records (AVCATR) provides strategic leadership and management of the Advancement Technology and Records Department. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Advancement Operations and Chief PAE Strategy Officer, the AVCATR provides vision for the leveraging of existing and emerging technologies to achieve the bold and aspirational goals of the division of Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement (PAE) as it prepares for a multi-billion dollar comprehensive campaign. The AVCATR oversees and directs the use of value-added Advancement technology to achieve these goals. This oversight includes, but is not limited to, leading and directing the Advancement technology infrastructure roadmap; acquisition and administration of various tools; data management; gift accounting; reporting; and analytics. Since PAE includes fundraising for the UPMC health system, this position also oversees the grateful patient data infrastructure and its integration with all PAE platforms. 

The AVCATR works closely with PAE and institutional stakeholders to ensure that ATR serves divisional and institutional needs and is customer service-oriented and donor-centric. This role aligns technology infrastructure, business processes, and policies with the priorities and resources of the division, and is responsible for the daily management and effective functioning of all the teams within ATR.



Job Summary

Executive positions at the University hold significant responsibility for establishing and implementing goals, policies, procedures, strategic direction, and engagement initiatives within their department or organization.


Essential Functions 

Leads Advancement Technology and Records to develop annual and multi-year goals to achieve overall success for the division. Oversees CRM-related division-wide vision, strategic planning, and implementation based on data-driven needs, focusing on the division’s commitment to Salesforce. Provides guidance on CRM priorities and projects. Develops measurements and tactics to achieve goals. Manages software technology lifecycle from needs analysis through acquisition and implementation. Manages business process documentation, training, and adherence to established guidelines. Manages, mentors and supervises an Advancement Technology and Records team of more than 20 individuals across PAE Systems, UPMC Data Management, Records Management, and Business Intelligence and Analytics. Maintains an efficient, collegial, and proactive work environment. Manages the compliance and ethical standards of Advancement Technology and Records in accordance with the Internal Revenue Service and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. Serves on relevant University committees as appropriate.
