Position Details:

The Office of the Dean of Students is enthusiastically accepting applications for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Principal Assistant.

The Opportunity:

This position will oversee and provide a wide range of administrative support to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC)/Dean of Students and the Associate and Assistant Dean of Students' direct reports. Additionally, this position will serve as the liaison for both internal and external constituents concerning matters and issues pertaining to a variety of Student Affairs departments reporting to the AVC/Dean of Students on complex, sensitive and confidential situations while representing the AVC/Dean in positions requiring a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Lastly, the Principal Assistant will manage the day-to-day office support for the Office of the Dean of Students and maintain financial, personnel, and payroll records for all reporting departments.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible management work experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Computer software skills, including the ability to use office software, such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of policies and procedures in a complex academic institution or similar complex organization.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and occasional weekends. Experience in handling personnel administration.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Professional work experience in a higher education environment.

Monthly Salary:

$4,508  -  $5,635

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
