Description

 

The Associate Teacher supports the daily operations of their assigned classroom.  This includes assisting the Head Teacher in establishing and maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment, planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, modeling best teaching practices, and supervising other classroom staff and Purdue students.  The Associate Teacher supervises the afternoon program for children, and develops and maintains professional relationships with staff, parents and students. 


A background check, drug screen, and a health assessment will be required for employment in this position.



Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or closely related field.
  • One (1) year of experience working professionally with young children (ages 3-5 years) in a group setting, including classroom teaching experience.
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Excellent planning, development, implementation and evaluation skills related to:
    • Inclusive educational programming for young children
    • Parent involvement programs

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or closely related field
  • First aid & CPR certification completed

Additional Information:

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age
