The Associate Scientist, in the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, performs scientific experiments and has an in-depth technical and theoretical knowledge and expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and animal model study.

Responsibilities include: independently performs a wide range of research functions based on agreed protocols and objectives with minimal guidance. Studies the function of signaling molecules in platelets using methods including tissue culture, molecular and cell biology procedures, flow cytometry, and in vivo experiments in various mouse models. Performs literary research and participating in the development of research protocols; contributes to optimizing and trouble-shooting experiments; completes experiments with efficiency of time and resources; designs experiments with proper controls; analyzes and interprets experimental data; conducts various measurements and analysis consistent with research protocol. The Associate Scientist also performs ELISA, PCR, and Cell Culture; prepares solutions, reagents, and media; performs routine duties maintaining the health and integrity of the animal colony. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
M.D. or Ph.D. in biology or closely related field and four years of experience. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability in performing ELISA, PCR, and Western blotting.
*Experience working with mice.
*Ability to keep accurate records of research performed on NIH standards.
*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to work both independently and within a group.
*Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented.
*Ability to adjust to changing priorities and schedules.
*Must be able to operate all standard office and laboratory equipment.
*Willingness to learn new methodologies.
