Associate Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Associate in Computational Immunology — Department of Pathology Yale School of Medicine
The Kleinstein and Yaari labs at Yale School of Medicine are seeking a highly motivated researcher to develop computational methods for multiomic immune profiling, with an emphasis on adaptive immune receptor repertoire sequencing (AIRR-seq). The position can be Associate Research Scientist (research-rank faculty) or Postdoctoral Associate , depending on experience.
The successful candidate will develop statistical and machine-learning approaches for integrating AIRR-seq with single-cell RNA-seq, paired BCR/TCR data, genomics, immune phenotyping, germline variation, and clinical or experimental metadata. Potential projects include genotype-aware repertoire analysis, modeling clonal expansion and public/private receptor sharing, scalable software development, and applications to vaccination, infection, autoimmunity, and population-scale immune variation.
The project will be jointly mentored by Steven Kleinstein and Gur Yaari, combining expertise in computational immunology, AIRR-seq software development, immunogenomics, antibody repertoire analysis, germline variation, and statistical modeling. The successful candidate will join a collaborative environment focused on developing rigorous, interpretable methods that address important biological questions.
The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative and programming skills. Experience with AIRR-seq, BCR/TCR repertoire analysis, single-cell genomics, multiomic integration, statistical modeling, or machine learning is desirable but not required. Candidates from computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, physics, bioengineering, immunology, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
The position offers opportunities to publish methodological and biological studies, develop open-source software, collaborate with leading immunology and computational biology groups, and contribute to widely used community resources for immune repertoire analysis.
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Yale School of Medicine faculty salary scale or Yale University postdoctoral salary scale, as applicable, and will be commensurate with the individual’s experience, qualifications, and applicable institutional guidelines.

Professional Conduct Review for New Faculty Hires
The final candidate, upon acceptance of a contingent offer of employment/faculty appointment, may be required to disclose whether they are, or have been, the subject of any disciplinary proceeding (investigation, hearing, etc.) at previous institutions or employers, and may also be subject to a background screening. Candidates who materially misrepresent information on their resume or other application materials are ineligible for hire/appointment. Final candidates may also be required to sign a release to allow Yale to solicit information regarding any substantiated conduct violations from current and/or past employers.
