The Division of Molecular Therapeutics at Psychiatry is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full time Associate Research Scientist position. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of synaptic physiology, behavioral analysis, and experimental therapeutic approaches in preclinical models. The successful candidate will be proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and Adobe products. The successful candidate will be familiar with one programming language such as PYTHON or R, and with online analysis platforms, e.g., Google Colab.

Duties:

Undertake independent experimental studies, employing analytical methods to elucidate a systems-level comprehension of motor behavior in both health and neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Parkinson's disease.

Utilize a diverse array of techniques, such as anatomic, electrophysiological, and photometric methodologies to quantitatively assess synaptic activity in striatal and dopaminergic neurons.

The selected candidate will be integral to all facets of experimental design, execution, and computational analysis across a broad spectrum of research projects, encompassing cyclic voltammetry, patch clamp recordings, fiber photometry, and various behavioral techniques.

Proficiency in independently designing and executing experiments is essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

The ideal candidate should have programming skills to enhance existing tools developed in the lab, analyze high-throughput data, and create new tools as needed for the project.

Work independently on the experiments described above, as well as collaborate with other members of our lab, scientists, graduate students, and postdocs.

Present data at research meetings in the lab, as well as at conferences and publish work in scientific journals, and writing future grants.
