JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Heterogeneous Integration of Micro Electronic Systems (CHIMES) at The Pennsylvania State University, directed by Prof. Madhavan Swaminathan and supported by Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as its Operations Director. CHIMES is an interdisciplinary center consisting of 15 universities, with Penn State being the lead university. The focus of the Center is on the development of next generation technologies for 3D monolithic and heterogeneous integration.

The Operations Director will report to the Center Director and will serve as the day-to-day coordinator of the Center as it relates to all aspects of operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with Principal Investigators (PIs) and Co-Investigators on all aspects of operations.

  • Coordinate all aspects of required annual reviews with PIs and sponsors/industry, including quarterly and annual reports.

  • Coordinate the necessary interactions with students, SRC, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and industry partners.

  • Act as the liaison to SRC when the Center Director is unavailable.

  • Ensure reports are submitted to SRC accurately, fully, and in a timely fashion to meet deadlines as required.

Applicants must have a master’s or terminal degree in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, mechanical engineering, or a related field by appointment date, demonstrated ability as a researcher, and evidence of professional growth and scholarship. Candidates will be considered for a non-tenure-line research faculty rank commensurate with their education and experience in accordance with AC21 .
