Job Summary
 

The University of Chicago Law School is seeking an Associate Registrar. The individual in this position reports to the Law School Registrar and provides senior support to students, faculty, and staff in a dynamic, high-volume student academic services department.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting with management of operations and administration of the section including operational policies, practices and procedures, and operations related to registration, exam administration, course catalogs, and course maintenance and scheduling.
  • Responsible for grade reporting, overseeing bar certification processes and reporting, evaluating transfer credit, degree audits, and academic advising. 
  • Assists Registrar with compiling and verifying student and course data, degree certification, graduation ceremony, course scheduling, data analysis, ABA reporting, and special projects. 
  • Helps implement methods to measure department performance, expand professional development opportunities, and ensures that development/improvement programs are in place relating to class management systems and student database. 
  • Evaluates current processes and helps develop short- and long-range plans to improve the services of the office.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Assistant Registrars and other student affairs staff reaching out to the Registrar’s office for assistance with complex matters.
  • Provides content and data to the Communication department for various Chicago Law publications and the website.
  • Represent the Registrar of the Law School if she is unavailable.
  • Manages the grading process by ensuring that personnel enter grades in an accurate and timely manner and ensures that grade changes are processed.
  • Acts as a resource for student/faculty/staff and answers questions in person, by phone, and via email regarding processes, policies, or errors on enrollment, grading, scheduling, degrees, etc.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Education:

  • Master's degree.

Experience:

  • Five years of progressive administrative experience.
  • Three years’ experience as a team lead or supervisor
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in academic administration or a related field
  • Experience with student databases and course management systems
  • Experience with website and academic catalogs and publications

  • Demonstrated competency in administering services and operations in a university environment, including demonstrated skill in problem solving and change management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality customer service

  • Extensive experience in a position that demonstrated advanced competency in direct customer service, problem solving, process improvement or related job knowledge.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability, negotiation skills, and work under pressure.
  • Experience in identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Experience working in a university environment and assisting individuals from diverse cultures.
