Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking  an Associate Program Manager for the Institute for Families (IFF). The Associate Program Manager is responsible for administrative and programmatic leadership for large-scale training programs, including management of the New Jersey Child Support Institute, which offers comprehensive training for professionals who work in New Jersey’s Child Support Program to ensure that children and their families obtain the financial and medical security they deserve. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides guidance to supervisors and team members providing a wide array of educational experiences for the human service and child support workforce in New Jersey. 
  • Oversees all details related to course and event scheduling as well as participant enrollment and support while guiding the recruitment, scheduling and coaching of instructors. 
  • Monitors the delivery and assessment of courses to ensure fidelity to all materials, effective learner engagement, and strong quality assurance practices.
  • Collaborates with a team of learning and development professionals who are responsible for design of all learning content and an evaluation team responsible for assessing knowledge gain and course satisfaction.
  • Develops project plans with task assignments and timelines, as well as processes and procedures that guide a team while ensuring high levels of customer support.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in a social work or relevant field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of three years experience in a  human services field. 
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in training development and delivery. 
  • Skills in project management, program administration, budgeting/financial management, supervision of professional staff, and report writing. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; including the ability to professionally and diplomatically interact with external stakeholders and provide useful, constructive feedback to a large team of staff members. 
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge in family development, working experiences within the state’s child support or human service systems, familiarity with best practices in training delivery, curriculum development, training evaluation, and experience with public speaking. 
  • Experience managing contracts, working with community agencies and/or early care providers, and managing large scale projects. 
  • Working knowledge of the child support system. 
Equipment Utilized
  • Must have outstanding computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), knowledge of instructional software and presentation platforms, and be experienced in utilization and development of learning management systems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • General office environment with light lifting. 
  • Must be willing to travel both in-state and out-of-state for project assignments. 
  • Many trainings are held outside normal business hours, so availability for work or consultation on evening or weekend time is critical.
