Department Summary
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) Department of Physical Therapy is housed within the School of Health Professions which includes a Physician Assistant Studies Program and an online Master of Science in Lifestyle Medicine With Health and Wellness Coaching. UNTHSC is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, research, and community service. The Department of Physical Therapy is seeking a faculty member who would like to create solutions for a healthier community by producing highly qualified entry-level Physical Therapy, and leadership in education, professional services, and research activities.
Position Summary
The Department of Physical Therapy at UNTHSC is growing! The department is searching for a dynamic and experienced leader to serve in the role of Director of Clinical Education for a new hybrid pathway Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This key leadership role will be hired by end of Spring 2024 and will play a pivotal part in shaping the clinical education experiences for our prospective hybrid DPT students while collaborating with our residential pathway clinical education team to ensure equity and excellence across the department. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, clinical sites, and stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of clinical education and prepare our students for successful careers in physical therapy. This position will supervise a clinical site coordinator specifically dedicated to the hybrid pathway and will assist the Chair of the Department in submitting accreditation paperwork for program pathway proposal.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) required from an accredited physical therapy program.
Licensed physical therapist in Texas (or the eligibility to obtain a Texas license) with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
Experience in a clinical education role, preferably as a Director of Clinical Education or similar, in a DPT program.
Knowledge of accreditation standards and processes related to clinical education.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with all individuals and stakeholders within and outside the University.
Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
Active participation in professional activities at the local, state, and/or national level.
Preferred Qualifications
An earned academic doctoral degree (ScD, DSc, EdD, PhD) with a research focus that prepares the candidate for scholarly activity.
Previous teaching responsibilities as course director in a hybrid format DPT program.
ABPTS certification is desired.
Lives local to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex for frequent visits.
